About this research project

This study aims to investigate high-flow oxygen in shared airway anaesthesia. Patients undergoing shared airway procedures will benefit through the determination of which airway management procedure (high-flow oxygen or standard care) results in the most favourable patient outcomes. The results of this project will highlight which management strategy is most beneficial to patients in terms of physiological response and self-perceived satisfaction which then incorporated into patient care may reduce the life-threatening hypoxemia and improve outcomes such as ICU admission or even cardiac arrest. This research has the potential to influence best practices for airway management in shared airway procedures around the world once published in a peer-review anaesthetic journal.

Our goals:

  • Research into faster and more accurate diagnosis
  • Improve understanding around the causes of disease and better prediction of disease progression
  • Increase survival and quality of life for patients and families
